INTEGRATED WATER CYCLE
We work towards managing the integrated water cycle in Madrid.
Distribution
From the drinwing water treatment plants to the user's tap, a series of facilities are managed that ensure the maintenance of the water supply service continuously and with the required pressure. This set of facilities is composed of: large pipes, regulatory tanks, smaller tanks, lifting stations and the distribution network.
The network of large pipelines that transport the water to the regulatory tanks is completed with the distribution network that allows all customers to arrive from these deposits.
The knowledge of the supply network, a systematic process for the treatment and resolution of incidents in it, and the technological advance that monitors in real time the flow and pressure conditions of all the sectors of the transport and distribution network of the Community of Madrid, has allowed us to reach high levels of efficiency and savings in available resources, despite the increase of our customers in recent years.
Large conduits
LARGE CONDUITS
They are the fundamental element to guarantee the optimal distribution of water. Linked as a ring, they connect the large canals that come from the Lozoya and Jarama rivers with those that reach the Guadarrama and Alberche river.
Forebays
FOREBAYS
They are waterproofed enclosures where the water that supplies the population is stored. The supply system of the Community of Madrid has more than 30 large regulatory tanks, the first one built in 1879, in addition to more than 290 smaller capacity.
Pumping stations
PUMPING STATIONS
The pumping stations - or elevators - are the infrastructures responsible for taking the water from the corresponding reservoirs and raising it to a sufficient level to be able to supply the water, with adequate pressure, to the highest areas of the Community of Madrid. Currently in the company we have 131 facilities of this type.

REPRESENTATIVE FACILITY
SANTA ENGRACIA WATER TANK
In 1862, given the insufficient capacity of the First Deposit, a new one was designed to meet the growing demand of the city of Madrid. This tank, which stands on Santa Engracia street and is bounded by Ríos Rosas, Bravo Murillo and José Abascal streets, entered service in 1876 and has a capacity of 188,412 m3 and measures 208.3 m by 138.8 m
